Brevo
Brevo's per-email pricing makes it the most affordable option for UK stores with large contact lists that send email infrequently. EU data storage and the most comprehensive DPA of any tool tested make it a strong GDPR choice. The automation builder is functional but less polished than Klaviyo's.

Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) takes a different approach to pricing from every other tool on this list. Where Klaviyo, Omnisend, and GetResponse charge by the number of contacts you store, Brevo charges by the number of emails you send. For some UK stores, this model is dramatically cheaper. For others, it is more expensive. Understanding which category you fall into is the first question to answer before evaluating it further.
The per-email pricing model explained
If you have 5,000 contacts but only send one email campaign per week, you are sending approximately 20,000 emails per month. On Brevo’s Starter plan, that costs approximately £19/month regardless of how many contacts you have. On Klaviyo, 5,000 contacts costs approximately £110/month. The saving is significant.
If you have the same 5,000 contacts but send email every day — automated flows, daily promotions, triggered sequences — your monthly send volume could reach 150,000+ emails. At that point, Brevo’s pricing becomes less competitive, and a contact-based pricing model from Klaviyo or Omnisend makes more sense.
The rule of thumb: If you send to your full list no more than once or twice a week, and you have over 2,000 contacts, Brevo is likely the cheapest option on this list.
Transactional email
Brevo is one of the few tools on this list that handles both marketing email and transactional email (order confirmations, shipping notifications, password resets) from the same platform. For Shopify stores, this means a single DPA, a single data processor relationship, and a single inbox to check for delivery issues. Klaviyo technically supports transactional email but it is not a primary use case — Brevo is built for it.
GDPR compliance
Brevo’s GDPR position is strong. The company is French-headquartered (Paris), all data is processed in the EU, and the Data Processing Agreement is the most thorough of any tool tested — covering UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and CCPA in a single contract. No configuration required.
Our verdict
If your UK store sends infrequently to a growing list, Brevo is the best-value option on this list. The per-email model rewards stores that do not blast their entire list every day. The GDPR documentation is the most comprehensive available, and the Paris headquarters means EU data storage by default.
If you need deep Shopify automation or the visual flow builder quality of Klaviyo, it falls short. But for budget-focused stores, it earns its place.

UK GDPR Compliance
EU data residency by default — Brevo is headquartered in Paris, France, and processes all data in the EU. One of the most comprehensive GDPR postures of any tool on this list.
Brevo's Data Processing Agreement is the most comprehensive of any tool tested, covering GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA in a single document. Consent management tools include double opt-in, GDPR-specific form fields, preference centres, and suppression list management. Transactional email (order confirmations, shipping) is also covered by the same DPA.
Shopify Integration
Integration type: native
Strengths
- +Real-time order sync for purchase-triggered automations
- +Abandoned cart email flows
- +Transactional email (receipts, shipping) in the same platform
Limitations
- −Automation builder less visual and intuitive than Klaviyo
- −Product recommendation blocks less sophisticated than Klaviyo
- −Lower Shopify app rating than Omnisend
What we like
- + Per-email pricing model — much cheaper for large lists with infrequent sends
- + French company with EU data storage — strong GDPR position by default
- + Transactional email included — one platform for receipts, shipping, and marketing email

What we don't like
- − Free tier limited to 300 emails/day — one broadcast to a large list uses daily quota
- − Automation builder less intuitive than Klaviyo's visual flow editor
- − Shopify integration less deep than Klaviyo or Omnisend
- − Lower affiliate commission rate (5%) than GetResponse or ActiveCampaign
Who it's best for
- ✓ UK stores with large contact lists that send email infrequently (weekly or monthly)
- ✓ Businesses that send both transactional email and marketing email from one platform
- ✓ GDPR-focused stores that want the most thorough data processing documentation
Not ideal if
- ✗ Stores that send email daily or multiple times per week (per-email pricing becomes expensive)
- ✗ Stores needing deep Shopify-specific automation
- ✗ First-time email marketers who want the simplest possible setup
