Drip

Drip is a clean, focused e-commerce email platform with a straightforward single-plan pricing model. Its main limitation for UK stores is the lack of EU or UK data residency. If GDPR data residency is not a hard requirement, it is a solid option. If it is, look elsewhere.

UK GDPR Requires Configuration

Drip is an e-commerce email platform that does one thing well: email automation for online stores. There is no CRM, no webinar hosting, no funnel builder. The interface is clean and the pricing model is simple — one plan, all features, priced by contact count.

The single-plan model

Every Drip customer gets the same feature set regardless of spend. There are no plan tiers with features locked behind upgrades. At 500 contacts, you have access to the same automation builder, segmentation capabilities, and reporting as a customer at 50,000 contacts. For teams that have been frustrated by Klaviyo’s or ActiveCampaign’s plan gating, this is a meaningful advantage.

The GDPR limitation

Drip stores all data in the United States. There is no EU or UK data residency option. For UK businesses, this means relying on standard contractual clauses (SCCs) for lawful data transfer — which is legal, but requires documentation and cannot be achieved by simply ticking a box at account setup.

For UK stores where GDPR data residency is a hard requirement — whether due to internal policy, legal advice, or industry regulation — Drip is not the right tool. Omnisend, GetResponse, and Brevo all offer EU data residency by default at similar or lower price points.

Who should choose Drip

Drip makes most sense for UK e-commerce stores where the simplicity of one plan and a focused feature set outweighs the GDPR limitation. Practically, this means stores that have taken legal advice and established SCC-based transfer documentation, or smaller stores where the data residency question has been assessed and accepted.

Our verdict

Drip is a solid tool held back for UK audiences by one significant limitation: US-only data storage. If that limitation is acceptable for your business, the clean interface and all-features-included pricing model are genuine advantages. If EU or UK data residency matters, choose Omnisend or GetResponse.

UK GDPR Compliance

Requires Configuration

US data storage only — Drip does not offer EU or UK data residency. All customer data is processed in the United States. UK businesses must rely on standard contractual clauses (SCCs) under UK GDPR for lawful international transfer.

Drip's Data Processing Agreement is available on request. However, with no EU or UK data residency option, UK businesses must explicitly document their reliance on SCCs for data transfers. For UK stores where GDPR data residency is not a hard requirement, Drip is workable. For stores where it is, consider Omnisend, GetResponse, or Brevo.

Shopify Integration

4/5 (130 reviews)

Integration type: native

Strengths

  • +E-commerce-focused design — built for online stores from the ground up
  • +Strong tagging and event-based segmentation
  • +Abandoned cart and post-purchase automation built in

Limitations

  • Smaller Shopify app community than Klaviyo or Omnisend
  • Fewer Shopify-specific templates
  • Less active development of Shopify-specific features than Klaviyo

What we like

  • + Single plan — all features available without tier-gating
  • + E-commerce-first design philosophy
  • + Clean, focused interface without CRM or webinar bloat
  • + Strong behaviour-based tagging and segmentation

What we don't like

  • US data storage only — weakest GDPR position on this list alongside Kit
  • No free tier
  • Smaller ecosystem and community than Klaviyo
  • Less development activity on Shopify features than the market leaders

Who it's best for

  • E-commerce stores comfortable with US data storage
  • Teams that want all features without plan-gating
  • Stores that want a clean, focused tool without unnecessary features

Not ideal if

  • UK stores with strict GDPR data residency requirements
  • Stores with under 500 contacts looking for a free tier
  • Enterprise stores needing deep CRM or omnichannel capabilities
